The biggest difference in practice is that 10th Planet emphasizes grips based on underhooks, overhooks, and body positioning—not cloth grips—making it more directly applicable to MMA and real-world grappling. We do not rely on the gi, or someone's clothing, to fight.
Also, the philosophical mindset of the 10th planet system is based in innovation and pressure testing. We don't do something the same way others do "because it's always been done that way" 10th planet wants THE MOST EFFECTIVE technique, not the most traditional. Sometimes the two overlap, sometimes they don't.
We don't bow to a picture on the wall, but we DO honor our lineage. Instructors in 10p are guides and resources, not infallible deities that should never be questioned.
Like tattoos, food quality, and most service based industries/products, you get what you pay for. We strive to make training affordable, while still maintaining good wages for our coaches and a nice facility.
Trainig for kids starts as low as $139/month for adults $159/month. We frequently have specials and discounts running do please don't hesitate to ask.
In our everyday lives, most people aren't walking around with near indestructible, unrippable clothing on. We believe your ability to defend yourself shouldn't be dependent on an attacker's outfit. By training No-Gi, you are more prepared for a wider variety of scenarios. Your grips will be based on anatomy, not sleeves and collars.
Rash guard or athletic shirt, and grappling shorts or spats—no zippers or pockets. please cover your arm pits:) no tank tops
